Mobile Unit

MMH is going mobile!

We're bringing direct hygiene access to those who need it most.

For decades, Mary Magdalen House has believed something simple: everyone deserves access to a shower, clean clothing, and basic hygiene, regardless of where they sleep.

That's why we're launching Greater Cincinnati's first mobile hygiene unit, bringing showers, laundry, resource navigation, and compassionate care directly into the community.

Every shower is an opportunity for health, confidence, connection, and hope.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who can use the mobile unit?

Similarly to our flagship location, anyone who needs a shower is permitted to use the mobile unit, regardless of income status, sobriety status, or other common barriers to services. Additionally, the private stall design will allow MMH to service families and kids for the very first time!

Where will the mobile unit travel?

The unit will operate throughout Greater Cincinnati, beginning with Hamilton County. For security, we can’t publicly disclose exact locations but we are working with partners on both the west and east sides, as well as north of downtown/OTR. We will operate in safe, accessible locations proximate to the guests who need our services.

How many guests can the unit service per day?

With three private bathrooms and showers, we anticipate providing as many as 20-30 total showers per day. In addition, the unit is equipped with a washer and dryer so we can launder guests’ essentials, and we will have a resource navigator present for all visitors, whether or not they shower.

Is this replacing the Mary Magdalen House facility?

Absolutely not. We will continue providing around 100 showers per day at our flagship location, as well as mail access, long term storage, and our other dignity-promoting services. The Mobile Hygiene Unit will complement our ongoing work by expanding our services outside of OTR.
